Glow Your Own Way

The twins wanted a Neon Glow Party for their birthday this year.  Seriously, the funnest party we've every done!

Pizza in the black lights
The girls spent forever making accessories out of white and neon pipe cleaners
That glowed so well, I totally forgot to get out all the glow sticks I'd bought.
Did you know it's really hard to take pictures in the dark?
 Glow in the dark Limbo
 Photo booth

 Freeze dance
We turned on the lights for brownie sundaes
And took a picture with the flash so we could recognize everyone later...

We had three huge black lights hung up decorated with white streamers and stars we cut out of neon card stock.  We hung them using white pipe cleaners.  Cheap and easy!  The girls came and I painted their faces with glow in the dark paint and they all got to paint a neon shirt with glow-in-the-dark paint. (Brooke and her friends dried them with blow driers so the girls could wear them)  We played limbo, musical chairs, freeze dance and they spent about 45 minutes just playing with hundreds of pipe cleaners.  Everything is more fun in black lights!

It's the Canadian in us...

Did your kids watch the Olympics this February?  Mine did.
Did your kids absolutely love the curling?  Mine did.
Did your kids invent their own "sister curling" sport?
Mine did...

Quote of the day...

My girls go to bed pretty early.  (Their mom needs some space at night...)  At 7, we read scriptures.  By 7:30 they are upstairs brushing teeth, getting drinks, doing whatever it is they do to get ready for bed.  Then they can read until 8.  I had this conversation with Sam yesterday...
Sam - "Can I read my scriptures on my tablet?"
me - "Sure."
Sam - "What if I accidentally end up playing games instead..."
Nice try, small fry...

"love" notes - church style...

I'm sure you're all so righteous that you never get bored in sacrament meeting and that your children sit quietly paying the utmost attention to the speakers...  Sometimes we're not as good as you...
Last week for example...  The girls like to doodle on the program.  I'm ok with this.  But sometimes they get a little extra special with their art...
Erin's first picture...
Alix's first doodle.  (the twins think that "opensay" is how you say stupid in pig latin...)  And she blamed it on Brooke...
I have such nice girls...
Erin noticed that Brooke didn't like her picture in the first piece of art she did.  So she made Brooke even cuter...  But at least said she's the coolest, right?
So Brooke wrote Erin a little message... (Air Bear is Erin's nickname.  And apparently Brooke goes by Bomb digity boom...)
 Brooke's rendering of Erin...
The Spirit was pretty strong in our bench by now, so I sent them both this message...
And Brooke responded with my favorite picture of all time...
What are those things hanging down?  Saggy "bobs"?  My saddle bags?  A pair of jodhpurs?
Nope.
My shoes.
Those are tall high heels.
Maybe this isn't funny to you, but I'm actually laughing out loud sitting her writing it up.
 Best. Picture. Ever.
